Do you have an idea for a Youth Led Community Project?
Totnes Trust is inviting young people to come forward with proposals for youth-led community projects that will make a positive difference in Totnes and the surrounding area. Youth-led projects are those in which young people take the lead in setting the goals, making decisions and organising the activities, while adults may act as mentors or facilitators providing support rather than direction. We believe that this approach helps develop confidence, leadership and real-world experience, and ensures that activities reflect what young people actually want and need in their community.
Projects could include:
- Outdoor activities such as nature projects, sporting activities or environmental action days.
- Theatre, music or performance workshops that give young people a platform to express themselves.
- Arts and crafts initiatives, exhibitions or creative skills sessions open to the wider community.
- Technology-based projects, from coding clubs to media, film or digital creativity.
- Any other idea that clearly benefits local people or strengthens community life.
Totnes already has a growing culture of youth participation through groups and projects that encourage young people to shape local activities and services. The Trust’s funding call hopes to build on that momentum and give more young people the chance to design and run their own projects.
How to apply:
Young people are invited to submit a short proposal outlining:
- What their project is and who it is for
- How it will benefit the community
- What activities they plan to run and when
- How much funding they are requesting and what it will be spent on
Project proposals and funding requests should be sent by email to Totnes Trust at info.totnestrust@gmail.com for review. The deadline for submissions is 31 March 2026, and applications received by that date will be considered for funding in the next round of support.
Totnes Trust is keen to hear from a wide range of young people, including those who may not have applied for funding before or who are just starting to explore an idea and we hope that this scheme will encourage new voices, innovative projects and fresh energy in community life, and we are looking forward to seeing and supporting the ideas that emerge
